WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Nearly 45,000 people die in the United States each year -- one every 12 minutes -- in large part because they lack health insurance and can not get good care, Harvard Medical School researchers found in an analysis released on Thursday.

"We're losing more Americans every day because of inaction ... than drunk driving and homicide combined," Dr. David Himmelstein, a co-author of the study and an associate professor of medicine at Harvard, said in an interview with Reuters.

in response to No Safety Net...   I am so sorry to hear about your situation. It is awful that you have had to suffer this indignity. I really hope life gets a little easier for you as time goes on. I know it has not been easy for you. But, I hope you the best with both with your illness and with your family. It must be hard. I am not a doctor and can not make any suggestions, but I know there is so much information on the internet about herbs, nutrition and excercise which can help some people improve their lives. If you want to talk just stop by here and write it down. I am not here every day but, I do stop by once every now often. I wish you the best and I hope you find away to better your life.

Even if they did have the healthcare will not stop the deaths. Especially you'll keep taking those pills those doctors give you which are nothing but poison. Listen to your T.V. side effects plus the destruction of your organs and the chemical lobotomy you get when you take those drugs.
Wake up folks When your dr give you medicine? Ask him if it has D2 blocking. In other words does it block the chemical signals to the dopomine receptors.
You are being poisoned and you are agreeing to it.

Hi, I am uninsured having lost my job while a single mom (and subsequently my health insurance which of course necessitated my ceasing all of my lif-saving medications) after being unable to work due to collapsing on the job several times and being raced to the Emergency Room from active SLE Lupus and a medley of related lupus issues including pneumonia, permanently decreased lung capacity, pancreatitus, and liver inflammation. I have nearly died on numerous occasions. I also have lupus related Rheumatoid Arthritus, disintegrating vertebrae, and bone density loss. The ADA and it's enforcement is a joke. Yes, I took the precaution of hiring a lawyer to represent me who "only charged if they won the case". After 5 years of inaction, lost files, avoiding communication, and missed opportunities, they finally admitted to being unwilling to pursue the work involved to properly benefit my claim (although full proof existed of the blatant abuse, forced reassignments, and health discrimination, and co-workers had been willing to affirm to it), and wanted to settle for a grand total of $20,000 to avoid a trial, them getting 15% of course. I told them to stick it where the sun doesn't shine. That was the last I heard from them. In the meantime I lost my car, apartment, assets, and dignity. My kids sought stability with other family and friends, and are since grown. We are pretty much estranged, as they resent what the collapse of my health and it's domino effect put them through. They see what they suffered through the eyes of children, and are as yet unable to comprehend it from an adult viewpoint. Had I been able to keep medical insurance and had the ADA truly had the power to enforce compliance, I would be more physically whole and my family certainly more emotionally whole.
